Having liked this song for yonks, I was chuffed when Manson released the cover version, and I expected, he did a feckin good job re-animating a very lifeless song..You really can believe his frustration and inability to fully say goodbye, when he says don't touch me please I cannot stand the way you tease..Marc Almond never injected any realisim into the lyrics, and I was often left with the feeling that he was insincere about his work..at least with Manson you can guarantee 100% commitment.

Hmmm. I'm not really into that song in the first place, but I have only heard the Soft Cell version. Now I'm curious to hear the Manson one. I liked his version of Sweet Dreams by the way, well actually I like both versions, by him and by the Eurythmics. OK your topic wasn't about that second song, but I figured I'd mention it anyway. *smiles*

Manson's version of Sweet dreams is excellent very disturbing and vibrant...their cover of Tainted Love is not what you might expect, its more electronic and the guitars don't feature heavily until near the end, where the music changes and becomes far heavier and more familiar to the lovers of Manson ...

I loved Manson's version of "Sweet Dreams" I think he did an interesting take on "Tainted Love" it was pretty good but I'd say about equally good as the original to me, I like the detached 80s feeling of the song that Soft Cell brought up but I think his take on "Personal Jesus" was way too predictable and didn't add anything to the song while actually missing out on a lot of atmospheric detail that Depeche Mode did so well I think way to predictable of a choice so we'll see what he'll come up with next.
cheers

Soft cell is way better I think, I don't like the voice of Manson, honestly.

Manson's version is cool but i like the My Ruin cover of it alittle better, and the Shades Apart version was cool. So has anyone actually heard the original version of Tainted Love (and no its not soft cell from the 80's)

I personally like the soft cell version better. manson's is too freaky. but then again, I'm not too crazy about manson.

I'd agree with the last poster. Besides, I actually remember when the Soft Cell version came out. I still love the lyrics and the music of that song. As for sweet dreams are made of this, I also like the Eurythmics version. Manson should stick to death metal and ax the covers. Just my oppinion.

I totally agree with post 10. I also don't think he sounds detached, it's just the way songs sounded in the 80's and he sounded reasonably into the song to me. Also, no, I haven't heard the original if it wasn't by Soft Cell, but now I'm curious, will have to look it up.
